MyCAA Must Read

You are a military spouse, which means you get special incentives and privileges the rest of the public does. If you are making the very wise choice or enhancing your career, myCAA could have life changing benefits for you and your financial planning for college.

So often I see military spouses not taking advantage of this amazing opportunity. Either out of lack of proper information, or the process seems to confusing. I know, I know… They process is confusing in the beginning. This is not meant to push you away, but to give you a summary of the scholarship and some motivation. I am here to guide you to reach your goals, or at least point you in the right direction.

*Remember, you are not in this alone. There is a well informed team of people out there waiting to help you. You are not meant to do this alone.*

First let me tell you some things about MyCAA



If you are looking to go back to school, myCAA is a scholarship for military spouses that will provide up to 4,000 per fiscal year in order to help you reach your academic goals which eventually lead to gainful employment in a portable career.



The scholarship supports those who are working on an associate's degree, vocational school, certificates tuition costs for education training courses and examinations leading to an associate degree. *You must check that you are attending an accredited college, university or technical school in the United States or approved testing organization that expands employment or portable career opportunities for military spouses.



Eligibility

Military spouses of active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2 and O-1 to O-2. They must have successfully completed high school and have the ability to request tuition assistance while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders are eligible. Spouses married to members of the National Guard and reserves in these same pay grades are eligible(myseco.militaryonesource.mil/). Check out the fact sheet

*Research and select a MyCAA friendly school by creating a MySECO account . This is the first step in the process. You can call MySECO and they will guide you every step of the way to make it less confusing. Also, they will need to interview you to see what your academic and employment plans are. They can even help you pick a school!

When you get to your school of choice, talk to your academic advisor about MySECO, and they will be well informed of the scholarship. You the school, and MySECO will create your academic plan. This is how you get your scholarship money.
